In the film Life of Pi 3D 2012, young Pi Patel survives a shipwreck that kills his family and sinks the freighter transporting their zoo animals. He finds himself adrift in a lifeboat in the Pacific Ocean with an injured zebra, a hyena, an orangutan, and a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. After the other animals perish, Pi must use his wits and faith to coexist with the tiger, surviving storms, hunger, and despair during their 227-day odyssey. Their journey leads to a mysterious island and a final, ambiguous landing that questions the very nature of truth and storytelling.
