Man of Steel 3D 2013 follows Kal El an alien from Krypton sent to Earth as a baby. Raised as Clark Kent he hides his superhuman abilities. General Zod a Kryptonian survivor arrives with followers to terraform Earth into a new Krypton which would kill all humans. Clark reveals himself as Superman to stop Zod. He destroys the world engine and fights Zod across Metropolis. Zod refuses to surrender so Superman kills him to save a family. The film explores identity acceptance and the responsibilities that come with great power. This reboot presents a darker more realistic origin story for the superhero.
