300 Rise of an Empire 3D 2014. Greek general Themistocles leads Athens against the invading Persian fleet commanded by Artemisia. Years earlier, Artemisia was enslaved and rose to become Xerxes’ admiral. Themistocles kills Persian emissaries and unites Greek city-states against the invasion. Artemisia slaughters Spartan troops at sea and destroys Athens. Themistocles and his men face the Persian navy in a narrow strait. The film employs slow motion, speed-ramping, and saturated digital backgrounds. Themistocles duels Artemisia aboard her ship. He wounds her and the Persian fleet retreats. Xerxes watches from shore. Themistocles returns to rebuild Athens.
