Cars 2 3D 2011 follows Lightning McQueen who competes in the World Grand Prix to determine the worlds fastest car. His best friend Mater gets mistaken for an American spy. British spies Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell recruit Mater to help them uncover a conspiracy by lemon cars led by Professor Z who plans to sabotage the races. Mater uncovers a plot using a camera disguised as a camera. Lightning focuses on winning the race while Mater tries to protect him without revealing the spy mission. The film moves across Japan Italy and London. Mater must choose between his friendship with Lightning and his secret spy work. This sequel shifts focus from racing to espionage while maintaining the first films message that friendship matters more than winning.
