In the film Edge of Tomorrow 3D 2014, Major William Cage, a cowardly public affairs officer, is forced into a suicide mission against an alien invasion in Europe. Killed almost immediately, he wakes up to relive the same day repeatedly, a phenomenon caused by alien blood. Each loop, he improves his combat skills and seeks out Sergeant Rita Vrataski, a famed warrior who once had the same power. Together, they train to use the time loop to track down and destroy the alien hive mind, the Omega, before the Mimics overrun all of Europe and Cage permanently loses his reset ability.
