Into the Deep 3D 1994 is a documentary filmed off Californias Channel Islands. The kelp forests are full of wonders including starfish octopuses and sea lions. Director Howard Hall captures marine life in their natural habitat. Cameras follow sea lions swimming through giant kelp strands. Octopuses change color and texture to blend with rocks and coral. Starfish cling to the kelp forest floor while hunting for mussels. The documentary also shows rays eels and jellyfish in the waters. Hall filmed this IMAX production using underwater housings designed for large format cameras. The film focuses on the interconnected ecosystem of the kelp forest where predator and prey relationships play out daily.
