3D Sun 2007. This documentary describes NASA’s twin STEREO satellites, launched in October 2006 to provide the first-ever stereoscopic measurements of the Sun. Through animation and interviews with scientists, the film explains how the satellites orbit the Sun—one ahead of Earth, one behind—to create 3D images of solar activity, including coronal mass ejections. The mission achieved a milestone by capturing the first images of the entire Sun. Narrated by Al Roker, the documentary illustrates what the Sun means to life on Earth. It was originally released for IMAX theaters .
